Volkl Goes Carbon – 2014/15 Gear Sneak Peeks

Fresh off the success of Volkl’s wildly futuristic Volkl V-Werks Katana, they’re launching another series of lightweight carbon skis for next winter. The BMT series is all about backcountry freeride, and last I checked the likes of Ian McIntosh, Christina Lusti, Austin Ross, Stian Hagen and friends were off in Europe using and abusing these new planks as best they could. The BMT simply stands for ‘Big Mountain Touring’, which sounds right up our alley. Through hard hitting journalism we hit them with the hard questions and confirmed that no, there will not be a BLT series coming next. Shame, we all know Bacon performs better than Carbon. 😉

Overall these planks look pretty sick, light, and ready to rip. Sign us up. It comes in a 94, a 109, and a 122. The 109 in a 186cm wieghs 1740g per ski, which is very light for a freeride ski, but still heavier than the weight chasing brands like G3 & Dynafit. But from what we here the Katana skis like a champ, so hopefully these do as well.
