Winner Announced in Big Mountain Freeskier Search
Drum roll please… the staff at Mountain Hardwear Canada have reviewed the entries in their 2010 Big Mountain Freeskier Search, and the winner has been chosen. We at Doglotion.com were pretty excited about their choice, because it’s a face many Whistler skiers will recognize – none other than Ian ‘Cheddar’ Watson.
Winner Ian ‘Cheddar’ Watson
Congratulations Ian. His entry definitely showed some effort, with a mix of big mountain backcountry photos and a killer video clip made just for the contest. Ian has just won himself $2500 worth of outerwear and gear from Mountain Hardwear. If you know Ian, you’ll also know he’s had a streak of wearing used hand-me-down suites for a long time now. We’re not even sure he’ll know what to do with all this shiny and new gear without duct tape, but we’re confident he’ll figure it out, and abuse the hell out of it all winter long. While he’s at it, he’ll be providing feedback as part of Mountain Hardwear’s Test Team, so future outerwear might just have a little taste of Cheddar’s style in them.
Runner up Nathan Heintz
We’d also like to give a shouts out to some of the other solid entries, in the contest, including Fred McGuinness, Simon-Pierre Monette, Richard Small, James Hillier, Gillaume Vassas, Shane Charmichael, Dave Gheriani, Christian Ratcliffe, and more. All the guys had strong entries and could have easily taken it… speaking of which…
If you didn’t win this year, or didn’t get around to entering, stay tuned for another chance. At the start of next season we’ll be back with and bigger and better version of the contest, North America wide, and it’s anyone’s game.
Honourable mention to Gillaume Vassas, going big. Just one of the many skiers that could easily take 1st in the contest this fall.
