#DoglotionDoesJapan Part 2 – Team America & Other Nonsense
It’s funny how you sometimes have to travel around the world to find quality time with hilarious friends, old and new. While the Japanese locals we met were unbelievably considerate, helpful and welcoming, some of the real flavour from our Hakuba trip ironically came from the cast of Canadian and American characters we got to ski with along the way. We all shared a common bond – lack of patience for North America’s mediocre ski season, and of course a minor fetish for sushi, onsens, cold Japanese beer, and snow in our faces.
A trip to Hakuba wouldn’t be complete without the likes of Team America to show us the goods. PNW’s Shane Treat, Tom Murphy, and Mark Erickson were joined last minute by Canucks Dana Flahr and Paul Cotton who got clumped into Team America by association. These dudes cruised over to Hakuba, sniffed out their favourite zone, and pretty much set up shop for most of January and early February. And who could blame them!
Treat, Murphy and Erickson were chasing faceshots and good vibes, while good old Cotton-Tits and Flahr had rallied a last minute film mission to capture some TGR-worthy footage. Lest we forget that Cotton was the legend behind most of the early 2000’s Gaper Day edits and most of Dana’s first film segments, so we can expect plenty of awesome-sauce to show up next fall.
These guys kept it real from start to finish. Hell they’re more Doglotion than we were, why didn’t I get one of those masks!
I’ll let these photos and instagram tell the rest of the story…
