Too many choices for freeride skis!!!

OK, How does one without the benefit of sponsors pick from this year's crop of fat freeride boards?  To rocker or not to rocker?  Uber fat, or traditional width?  Multiple sidecut dimensions or reverse camber?

Who's got a strong opinion either way?  What's your favorite ski for all round mountain shredding?

I have been thinking about
Submitted by JordanManley on Wed, 2008-09-10 11:58.

I have been thinking about this lately too, with people raving about reverse camber/sidecut skis. I think reverse sidecut is just too one dimensional, you can't shred in the resort worth a damn if its not pow. I enjoy being able to ski variable snow/groomers fast and in control, not having to wash out my turns like I imagine would be the only way to ski with reverse sidecut skis. From what I hear though, reverse sidecut/camber rule in the pow.

Colours
Submitted by Tobin Seagel on Thu, 2008-09-11 12:06.

Basically the key to ski selection is colour matching. Open up your wardrobe and your ski choice will be made. This year I will sporting the latest fashion from Squamish, a red turtleneck with blue jeans. So I am going to want to purchase a ski that complements this ensemble, something with some red and blue, and maybe some white for a patriotic effect. If you are at all concerned, just buy skis that are black. Black goes with everything. Hope this helps! Have a great schussing season!

Tobin, and Jamie, I truly
Submitted by Condog on Thu, 2008-09-11 15:19.

Tobin, and Jamie,
I truly appreciate your input. I suppose I'll split the difference between the two and simply get a pair of black snow blades. Or Big Feet. Do they make those still?
Once again, your input is invaluable.
Kindest Regards.

good skis
Submitted by J Dogg on Thu, 2008-09-11 22:11.

in all seriousness, I'd be pumped to get some big reverse camber fatties for the occasional radical days, but until then, I'll have plenty fun on anything fairly straight and about 108 underfoot like the Goliaths.
And Tobin says Kastle came outta nowhere and made some rad ones this year.

NZ is the place for Big Feet
Submitted by len on Fri, 2008-09-12 21:24.

Forget reverse side cut for all the reasons that have been said, but reverse camber with some side cut is killer. I'm biased, but the Chopstick is killer and versatile.

Oh and the last time I was in NZ I went for a ride on a sweet pair of black and pink big feet. It may have been the same pair I tried in Toronto in the 80's but in NZ the craze was still in full swing. Sled dogs are what I've got my eye on though; the rear entry boot/big foot all in one job - truly the fruit boot for the snow.
