Yep you heard it right, if you missed the Vancouver & Whistler premiere's of TGR's Under the Influence, you've got another chance. It's coming to Squamish this week as part of the Annual Kees & Claire Winter Kick-Off Party fundraiser, to help raise funds for a memorial hut we are building in the area.

WHAT: Annual Kees & Claire Memorial Winter Kick-Off Party. Including the premiere of TGR's "Under the Influence" Ski & Snowboard film premiere, drink specials, silent auction, and a live band.

WHEN: Friday, November 14th. Doors at 7pm. Show at 8:30. Where: The Grizzly Bar & Grill, Squamish. Oh yeah, you heard us right!

TGR Vancouver Premiere Rocked The House

Good times were had by all on Thursday night at the TGR 'Under the Influence' Premiere and after party put on by Doglotion and Mountain Madness. Well except for two drunk teenie-boppers who paid their cover, stumbled into the bar, and had no idea what they were in store for when the Gaper Day 2008 premiere kicked off the show! Traumatized, they stumbled back out of the bar, and the left the rest of the packed crowd to watch the feature film in awe.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out, as it was easily our best turn out yet for a Vancouver film premiere. The crowd rolled in on time, on went the Gaper Day flick to stoke the crowd, swag-a-plenty was thrown, and then came the main event. Judging by the noise, Sage's movie opening Alaskan spine line was well-received to say the least, and the pace kept going throughout the film.

After the flick, the highly anticipated 'Beer Bendover' contest for a pair of ROSSIGNOL S5's ensued. 5 lucky entrants were brought on stage to test their flexibility, jaw strength and ability to swallow. Er, uh, it's not what it sounds like, but it was a well earned pair of skis, going to Kim from Vancouver who claimed the prize in the final round. Perfect size for her too! Stoked.

If you missed Whistler and Vancouver, well then there's pretty much no excuse to miss the Squamish fundraiser event coming up Nov 14. Stay tuned for more details.

TGR Premiere Went Off In Whistler 2008

3pm Wednesday afternoon - 27hrs to showtime and the Under the Influence DVD is in the back of a couriers truck, somewhere between the US boarder and Whistler. Future is uncertain.

11:59pm Thursday night - 2 blindfolded finalists are 7 shots deep into the contest, spinning blindfolded in disarray, wondering which of them is about to take home a pair of ROSSIGNOL S7's.

How did it come to this? What happened? Why is the room spinning, and why is there ketchup on my pants?

Back to 6:49 pm Thursday evening - 11 minutes to showtime and the Gaper Day DVD has just finished burning on a laptop in the lobby, right under the nose of unsuspecting movie goers, yet to be tested and previewed by nobody.

7:28pm Thursday - Somebody is probably fearing for their life as the last few DVD's get projectiled into the crowd, and the feature film - TGR's Whistler premiere of Under the Influence - is about to begin.

That much we can be certain of, the rest is a bit of a blur of ridiculous big mountain spines, pillows, double drops, straightlines, freebies, snowblades, stretchies, heli's, beers, athlete props and more. Simply put, Doglotion.com's night was packed with the TGR Whistler premiere, Gaper Day world premiere, and Fear & Loathing in Whistler after party at the Longhorn, and it didn't suck.

The show kicked off with a Gaper Day double header. TGR shredder Dana Flahr showed his hilarious take on what went down on the last day of Whistler Blackcomb's season, followed by Reed Purvis's masterpiece of rock skiing, worm turns, puddle skimming and debauchery.

Out came the swag and prizes, and local shredders Dana Flahr, Ian McIntosh and Kye Petersen were in the crowd to represent and pump it up.

When the main flick started, jaws dropped and the big mountain gnar began. TGR definitely knows their niche, and when Seth Morrison disses the jibbers he's been stuck with the last few years, the crowd let it out, setting the stage for an hour of the most big-mountain-packed footage we've seen to date. The local boys totally kill it, even giving legend Jeremy Jones a run for his money. And when the show wrapped, butts were glued to seats until the very last credit rolled.

Then off the Longhorn for some after party sillyness and of course the Rossignol ski giveaway, which proved even rowdier than anyone saw coming. You kinda had to be there, but picture an improvised game of musical shots, with rules changing every minute until a very lucky guy ended up with his face deep in a whipcream topped shot and a new pair of ROSSIGNOL S7's in his hand.

Kudos to the runner up, half his size, for given'er until the last round. She would have taken it too, but a confused and delirious judge (cough, Tobin) told her we couldn't change it into a flashing contest. Dare to dream.

Until next year, when another sold out TGR show comes to a theatre near you...

About the film...

LOST AND FOUND is the story of the extraordinary season of 2006.07 as seen through the eyes of world-class skiers and snowboarders. With global drought persisting and ski resorts closing around the world, athletes are forced to follow the snow, sending them deep into the uncharted north country of Alaska and Canada – including of course – the Whistler area. Filmed almost entirely in North America, LOST AND FOUND is a testament to the terrain and conditions that only exist in the Western Hemisphere.

It wouldn’t be complete without mind-blowing performances by some of our favourite Whistler athletes, Ian McIntosh, Dana Flahr, Kye Petersen, and Victoria Jealouse. McIntosh returns to try one-upping the films best breakthrough performance in last year’s film – his own – while Flahr is pumped on his return from injuries, and it shows. Once again, the Whistler crew pretty much shows the pros how we rock here in Whistler, and well, how last winter rocked us.

Jackson Hole is one of the rowdiest ski resorts in North America and has been a catalyst for some of the most progressive freeskiing and snowboarding in the world. Teton Gravity Research and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort present a 16mm film, THE BIG ONE. This film is a compilation of 10 years of TGR's most epic ski and snowboard moments at their world famous home laboratory in Jackson Hole, WY. From Paul McCollister's vision of North America's largest tram, TGR's inception in 1996, and the 10 years of off the hook action that followed, this is THE BIG ONE. Check out some of TGR's earliest stars as they reflect on the most memorable segments. “Sick” Rick Armstrong talks about the all-time huckfest during the filming of the Continuum. Yep, that's right. We didn't start the rumour, but we're sure as hell going to spread it! Word on the street from very reliable sources say that Blackcomb Mountain will be opening as early as THIS WEEKEND (Sat Nov 5th!) if the conditions stay the way they are currently. The snowline is looking nice and low, and there's heaps of white stuff up top.
