MSP Premiere of Seven Sunny Days

The World Premiere of MSP's Seven Sunny Days was off the hook, setting the tone for another epic winter, and more epic film premiere's to come.

Set outdoors in village square (aka awesome), on the warmest day of the fall (horse shoe up their #@$), a couple thousand people packed the area to watch the flick and cheer on the athletes in attendance.

Matchstick's athletes and stars of the film showed up to sign posters and meet and greet the mob of fans. Athletes included Sarah Burke, Mark Abma, Shane McConkey, Hugo Harrisson, TJ Schiller, Mike Douglas, Ingrid Backstrom, Chris Rubens, Eric Hjorleifson, CR Johnson, James Heim, and Rory Bushfield. The film's directors and cinematographers were also on site to share the enthusiasm.

And what better a place to watch it than Whistler, where pretty much all the athletes called home last winter, and those who didn't admitted they were suckers. The film documented some pretty epic shredding, some new faces, rad follow cam and sunset cinematography. All around good times.

Awesome to see Hjorleifson and Heimer break out into even more mad stardom, well deserved. Good shredding. The flying suirrel suits had the crowd going mental , and of course Shane Bond is our new idol.

If we had to play god and complain about anything, it would be Sarah Burke's totally girly segment (sex symbol or skier?), we prefered her as a skier. No offense to her, more to the editing. We know she rips, and she did bust some pretty huge moves. And the high jib content in the flick. It was rad, but straying from MSP's roots fo' shizzle.

With nearly 30 ski films and videos released in 2006, deciding this year’s coveted Powder Video Awards (PVAs) nominees was tougher than ever. But after pouring through hours of footage and consulting a panel of industry experts, Powder Magazine is proud to announce the official nominees for the 2007 PVAs presented by Jeep.

Returning to Aspen, Colorado, for the fourth year, the 2007 PVA’s will feature 12 different video award categories, including Best Line, Best Male and Female Performance and Best Powder. The show, which is attended by more than one thousand athletes, media, spectators and the biggest names in skiing, will also feature the Photo of the Year award, and Powder Reader Poll winners, decided by online voting at Powder.com. Past Poll award winners include iconic professional skiers Seth Morrison, Shane McConkey, Ingrid Backstrom and Sarah Burke.

"With the ski film industry continuing to explode, this show gains significance and momentum each year," said Powder Senior Editor Derek Taylor. "This year promises to be the biggest yet for the PVAs, including our first-ever live webcast on PowderAwards.com.”
