snowfall

Honest to god, this is f$@%ing hilarious. Did we really just get another 51cm of snow? Have I woken up an hour too early for my ride, and am I really getting ready for another day with over a half meter of fresh snow? Two and a half meters this week? That's more snow than many places on earth ever get in a season.

Still can't get over how epic the snow has been lately. Can't wait to hit up Whistler the next 5 days for some DEEP shredding and some video action. In the meantime, I'm really just using this blog to play with a new(ish) media display tool... displaying, I dunno, how about all Youtube videos about 'Whistler Opening Day 2009'.

Don't want to count our eggs before they've hatched, but is this going to be the frickin' best season known to man or what? Already had two balls deep days at Whistler Blackcomb, opening 2 weeks early with more snow that I remember having all of last year.

It just keeps coming. It was absolutely spewing rain in Vancouver and Squamish yesterday, and waddya know,  my car heater and de-fog doesn't work. Bad news. But the good news is how much snow the PNW's resorts and beyond are getting...

OK I know it's still mid October, but this alpine forecast is lookin' juicy. Winter just might show it's face afterall. Check out the alpine forecase for the Whistler area this weekend. If you can get your ass up to a glacier, Monday could be the first pow day of the year!

Skiers are buzzing about the huge-ass dump of snow that just fell on Las Lenas, Argentina, and hopefully some of the neighbouring zones. I heard 2.6 meters in Las Lenas alpine! The website shows a little less, but who's counting. Good news for anyone down there!

OMG OMG OMG there might actually be a god! (Jamie was just struck by lightning, just kidding). What I mean is, it looks like its going to majorly dump on Whistler! Yep, you heard it.

Am I dreaming, or was there something very, very different about the skiing in Whistler today. Something white, and fluffy, coming down rapidly from the sky, with no sign of relenting. That stuff that piles up on your jacket, makes you wipe your face and goggles 10 times each run.

Some thought it wasn't possible. Others thought it was time to pack it in and start riding bikes. Keeners found some good backcountry pow last weekend. And this! La piece de  resistance (he says in bastardized franglais)... the 14 day forecast for Whistler. With lots of snowflakes.

Bring it!

OK, what's the deal. Just when things were looking up for the ski season in the Pacific North West, and we were having some epic pow days on the hill, it's now gone to +10 Celcius in the alpine! Hmmmm, spring time anyone?

I'm sure it'll get back on track soon, but until then, just might have to head down to Vegas!
