Rating
Word on the street is Nissan Sports Adventure just put together a stacked freeride team to match the launch of their Freeride world tour, and Doglotion comrade Marja Persson is on it! Nicely done Marja, keep on keep'in on, and make sure you show Glen Plake how it's done.
Nissan Sports Adventure is proud to be a founding partner of the Freeride World Tour 2008 and to develop the sport of freeriding in a responsible manner via the creation of a series of world class events. To kick off this initiative, Nissan is very pleased to announce the launch of a world-class team of legendary snowboarders and skiers who will represent Nissan and inspire adventure spirited people throughout Europe.
The Nissan Sports Adventure winter team includes the following legendary snowboarders and skiers:
Snowboarders:
Johan Olofsson (32), Sweden
Geraldine Fasnacht (27), Switzerland
Cyril Neri (33), Switzerland
James Stentiford (35), UK
Eric Themel (31), Austria
Skiers:
Glen Plake (42), USA
Aurelien Ducroz (25), France
Marja Persson (27), Sweden
Johan Olofsson, from Sweden is probably the most famous living snowboard freeride pro, Johan’s part in Standard Film’s TB5 is still considered the ultimate Freeride cinematic moment, where in one five-minute section of film Johan changed snowboarding forever. He is still considered the father of modern freeriding, and his name is synonymous with credibility events. Still charging, still exploring the sport’s limits, Johan is a living legend.
Glen Plake, from the USA is the most famous and most photographed living skiing freeride pro. He is known for his appearance in ski films such as The Blizzard of Aahs, and for his trademark (often dyed blonde or blue) Mohawk hairstyle. Plake, along with Scott Schmit, were extremely significant in the uprise of extreme skiing in America. In recent years he has served as host for the RSN Cable Network's program Reel Thrills. In the realms of freeride skiing, Glen is the ultimate ambassador and a genuine legend in ski freeriding.
"Nissan Sports Adventure is proud to be supporting the team of eight elite athletes. The team members have been selected on the basis of geographic representation, their outstanding snowboarding and skiing talent and above all for their passion for adventure and independence and consistent for continuous achievement. The Nissan Riders will be exemplary ambassadors for Nissan Sports Adventure values and will really show the passion that we as a company hold for sports adventure. We really look forward to working with the team across a number of events throughout the winter season", said Darren Cox, European Brand Promotion Manager, Nissan.
Aside from competing in the events on the Freeride World Tour, you can expect to see the Nissan Sports Adventure team heavily involved in exciting and adventurous projects around the globe from filming projects in Alaska, competitions in Russia, first descents in Greenland and exploration of new routes in the Alps.
