Salomon Quest & Rocker2 Series Skis – 2014 Preview
Hitting up the Salomon Freeski booth at SIA is always a highlight, and not just because I left with some new goggles! This year was no exception, revealing lots of goodies for skiers to look forward to for 2013/14.
The main difference that freeski ripper Cody Townsend pointed out is that Salomon has now divided their freeride skis into 2 series, the Rocker2 Series, and the Quest Series.
The Rocker2 Series retains the Rocker2 122, 108, Rockette, and so on, all with that same super-fun camber profile and shape that you're used to. New graphics spice things up, and dare we forget the new Junior Rocker2! That looks like good times for the groms. Watch out.
Jumping over to the Quest Series, that's perhaps what we're more excited about. It's great to have a stacked line of super playful, rockered pow slashing skis, but lets not forget that sometimes when the skies go blue and the alpine cracks, you want a ski that can really rip. That made the Rocker2 115 a favourite in our books this winter, and luckily it's back for next winter, but renamed the Quest 115. With it comes some new sizes as well. The Quest 105 could be a gooder for sure, especially for some backcountry wanderings, or one-ski quivers.
Also new for 2013/14 (but not in the video) are the totally rebuilt Ghost boot (with tech inserts!) and the new Quest Max BC boot. Oh, and a new DIN 13 version of the Guardian for those of us (me included) who don't need their binding cranked to DIN 16, even when getting rad.
So there you have it. Lots more previews on this gear coming this spring if we can get our hands on some of the new gear. So stay tuned and we'll get the real dirt on this stuff soon.
