Mt Manaslu Avalanche Follow Up
With the dust somewhat settled on recent tragic avalanche disaster on Mt Manaslu earlier this week, we owe it to our readers to update the story with more information and links. A few links and videos of course pales in comparison to the significance of this event for everyone who was there, and for their friends and family who it affects. But it's often helpful to explore these events after the fact and learn what we can from it. (Lead image by Dey)
Unofficial Networks shared a list of the 8 dead and 3 more presumed dead climbers after the search was called off. Glen Plake's expedition partners Remy Lecluse and Greg Costa are two of the missing (and now presumed dead) climbers/skiers.
BC based ski mountaineer Greg Hill was on the scene of the avalanche after climbing up from Camp 2 to help with the first on scene rescue efforts. He recounts his experience here in his post "Disaster Strikes on Mt Manaslu".
Glen Plake echoed the sentiments of it truly being a 'disaster' far bigger than just an 'avalanche incident', in these video interviews with CNN.
