Even in Europe You Need to Walk - Chamonix Diaries Part 4

Turns out all those European ski tourers aren't just walking uphill for no reason. OK, well most of them are, but a few are actually on the hunt for pow. Yep, even with lifts in every direction, all aspects, and all elevations, the lift accessible pow is still going to run out sooner or later... especially when it only snows once a month ;)

Keen for some wanders, we busted out the touring gear (albeit 100x bigger and heavier than most set ups around here), and went in search of good snow and some mini classics. Les Grandes Autannes, Col du Tacul to Capucin Couloir, Mort Glacier, and other mellow but sweaty laps were all for the taking. Now 1.5 weeks in, it's definitely time to just shred some spring corn and leave the pow hunting for after this week's storm in Chamonix.
