In-Bounds Avalanche at KHMR

With warmer weather and a lot of precipitation Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has being seeing an amazing amount of snow fall in the last 7 days. Almost 80 centimeters of beautiful interior pow! All time ski conditions.

But with the warmer weather came some dangerous avalanche conditions. There was an in-bounds avalanche involving one snowboarder being buried. The slide occurred below a rock face past a run called Bare-Back on Redemption Ridge in Feuz Bowl. The snowboarder apparently was traversing across to some more turns when the slope ripped away just below the rocks. The slide happened around 11:45 in the morning and held the gondola up for almost 2 hours. The snowboarder is reported as being fine and I'm sure we will have more information on the slide in the next few days.

Be careful out there friends!
