I think that we need to add a feature on each user's page, called "Favorites". So, for example, if I went to Andre's user profile, I would see a heading "Andre's Favorites".
In that, would be 3 catagories:
-Andre's Favorite blogs -Andre's Favorite photos -Andre's Favorite videos
Under each of these catagories, there would be links to the different favorites he has - and obviously, "favorites" content would be doglotion.com content.
So, for example, I could click on "Andre's favorite video's" and I would find:
-Shames Mtn 04 video -Gaper Day 05 video -Gaper Day 06 video
So, in conclusion, this feature would allow each person to be able to select all their favorite content on the site, and that would proliferate the best stuff on the site, and add to characterization and community within it.

Yes I agree with Jordan, I like the friends and favourites idea. It will help to make the navigation for the everyday user much easier, especially as the volume increases.
As for the forum, I think there needs to be a more open and less blog like forum. Kind of like the biglines/nsmb type deal. Unless that's what you were trying to get away from. I just feel that with this setup as it gets more traffic, it will get pretty overwhelming.
Either way, I'm totally liking the whole user's own blog thing. Plus the whole layout of everything else.

The photo gallery needs to be more condensed too, like each photograph thumbnail takes up so much space. With only 6 photos posted, you have to scroll down so much to see them. As more photos get added it will just be overwhelming. Maybe a more condensed thumbnail gallery would be more appropriate.

Below, you'll see that the paragraph I typed out doesnt have any paragraph breaks where I put them in. looks messy!

Sometimes when l click on a random image, the tagged info will not show up. But when I access that same image from a gallery, the tagged information/links do show up. Not sure where the discrepency is there, but thought I'd let you know!

I'm throwing this one out there - what about a friends list, or some way of flowing through users more easily. I think that once people are blogging more, there will be more of an online user identity and community structure, but perhaps a friends list would facillitate the flow of navigation from user-to-use interaction. I know this sounds very close to myspace.com, but maybe that could carry some advantages. Just throwing it out there.

yep, I need a ski/ snow geek hat. all of summer everyday my roomates have had to put with me saying "fuck i wish it would snow", "I wanna go ski", "just fucking snow already" everyday since the hill closed (april 18) we had a pow day on the 24th of april and I've hiked for midsummer turns. I've hit the wall and our house now has a Taz made poster of snowflakes, All of them. everything from P1e, cp2c, s1 the whole shebang. Anyone else snaped and gone mad like me?

Now that I've got your attention with my slightly provacative title....I'd like to chime back in and say that I think there needs to be a reversal, or some structural adjustment of the blogs vs homepage news items. I don't know about the stats (and they might be misleading because obviously a home page is automatically going to generate tons of traffic) but I think the strength of this site is the community blog content, and thats what I look at the most. So, naturally, I'm of the opinion that it should be shifted to the front of the site. What do you guys think?
Additionally, Mrock aka mike, had hit on the fact that once the site recieves an influx in traffice, navigation of the blogs might become overwhelming - ski season hasnt started yet, and theres already a lot going on. I think a system of catagorization must follow to deal with that. I think that each person in their little window on the right that currently contains "my blog, create content, recent popular posts etc" should contain "friends blogs" where you can select blogs you like easily. currently this feature is available i think in one's own "favorites", however you have to access that via ones profile.

I'd also like to see a user list, a page with all the members of doglotion, however the list being made of profile photos, like myspace, not just a persons name.

I'm not sure about this marriage. First, Jamie had a redbull vodka the other night (this after he wanted to share a beer). And now lotte's using words like give'er. hmmmmm.....

I think the new site kicks ass. There's always going to be improvements that can be made as time goes on but the starting ground is dope. check out this new site (not even launched yet) http://www.rip.tv
