Volcano Time?
Turns out skiers should never miss their last 'fix' of big mountain turns before season's end. I was away for most of May embracing summer and climbing in Euro-land, while everyone I know in Canada was getting their last few weeks of shred on. Now mid June, I'm just aaaachin' for some big mountain turns, and judging by the weather, I may still have a chance.
It's been anything but spring or summer on the Cascade volcanos so far this month. Several meters of new snow must be sitting at the top of Mt Rainier by now, and after the scary avalanche tragedy on Rainier a special avalanche warning has been issued - in June! Goes to show it's the weather that dictates when it's good to ski, not the calendar. But we know plenty about that living on the West Coast.
So now the sun is in the forecast, hopefully conditions sort themselves out, and we can safely go shred somewhere! Bring it.
