Volcano season has begun!

Mt Adams was prime for the ripping last week-end. We assembled a bit if crew that ended up being 7 people. Weather looked a little suspect the entire drive down with the thunder clouds looming over the Cascade volcanos and the then the rains opened up near Portland. I had my doubts for the summit as we set up camp for the evening. After only 3 kms of road travel it was soon apparent that we were above the cloud ceiling! Mt St Helens showed herself.

After 9 hours we found ourselves on the summit and waiting to drop into the 8000 ft corn run! It doesnt get much better! Celebration beers at the Rogue Nation in Portland followed that evening.

Very nice

Adams is a nice ski for sure.  The south side is a donkey ride for sure!  We were just at Baker and missed out on the changing weather but settled for a heavy pack hike up around railroad grade.  Be careful though, the glacier should be fine but the snow fields are melting fast and we definitely had someone fall though into a stream bed.

Too bad on your Baker

Too bad on your Baker attempt. I think we may only have a few more week-ends left up there.
