Tantalus Hut (Lake Lovely Water)
The lower elevation neighbour of the newer Jim Haberl Hut, the Tantalus Hut sits on the shores of Lake Lovely Water, in the Tantalus Range, Squamish, BC. Access by foot is tricky because it's on the West side of the Squamish River. Yep, land use issues make it hard to access the cable car across the river, so flying in is often the way to go. Contact Black Tusk Helicopters to get up there.
The Jim Haberl Hut is a better location for ski mountaineering, but Tantalus Hut does have some really cool access to alpine and sub alpine ski touring. It's a great base for longer lines off the side of Alpha and nearby peaks.
It is operated by ACC Vancouver, and reservations/fees apply. With it's lakeshore location, it's also an amazing place to visit in the summer.
