Russet Lake (Himmelsbach Hut)

Sure its old and cold, but the Himmelsbach Hut at Russet Lake, Whistler, BC, is in about a good a spot as you can get. Just past the singing pass area outside the Whistler Mountain ski area boundary, Russet Lake is easy to get to, and sits right at the foot of one of the coolest mountains in the area - Fissile Mountain.

The skiing potential on Fissile is endless, plus there's some good turns to be head on the way in and out at Cowboy Ridge.

The hut was originally built by the BCMC, and is now run by BC Parks. No reservations or fees required. It's really basic, with no heat, propane, or sinks. Just some loft space for 6 people to sleep, and a couple of high benches to cook on. But it does the trick for now.
